The Office of Government and Community Relations is responsible for implementing, promoting and managing outreach initiatives and programs in the Foggy Bottom/West End and Fox Hall communities to neighbors and businesses. Being a good neighbor and contributing to the cultural life of the community are priorities for the George Washington University. By offering these opportunities to our neighbors, GW is committed to enriching the lives of Foggy Bottom/West End and Fox Hall residents. We hope to see you at one of these events.
The Office of Community and Government Relations holds an annual Community Dinner in collaboration with the Foggy Bottom Association. Bringing together members of the Foggy Bottom neighborhood and GW students to keep the lines of communication open and be good neighbors. The aim and success of the event allows community members and students to spend an evening enjoying good food and better company.
Every fall semester, GW invites the neighborhood to celebrate the holiday season over dinner and good conversation. The Thanksgiving celebration takes place in the community, where GW students are encouraged to reach across the aisle and contribute to the cultural life of the neighborhood. At the holiday dinner in December, GW invites our neighbors on campus to celebrate the end of the year and the beginning of a new year.
February Basketball Game
In February, GW invites our FRIENDS group to cheer on our GW men's basketball with free tickets. The neighbors have the opportunity to come ahead of tipoff for a meet and greet with President LeBlanc, before heading to the stands to watch the game.
The FRIENDS Spring BBQ is a community event celebrating the end of the semester. What better way to celebrate the neighborhood than with a BBQ? This annual event features great food and drinks. GW provides the basics and neighbors provide the fixings for a good old fashion community BBQ.
